I'll see if I can find out more info there. Linda, thank you for the link to the FAQ help desk. The machine emboroidery gods would indeed be smiling on me if that were the case! Karent, I would deeply appreciate any first hand info that you might find, when you get a chance, but please don't hurry, since I know your work keeps you busy through long hours and that you are recovering from a hip fracture as well. It would be so delightful to find that I already have some sort of card reader device tucked away in that accessories bin that will work. Thanks so much for the info, karent, SuziQz, Debbie and Linda.

Since I love software, I did load the Customizer 2000 onto my computer back then and looked through it with more than just a little puzzlement! Since I got the 300E, I downloaded Embird and have not looked at the C2000 software again. Oh, gosh, y'all are going to have me scrambling to dig out my Janome 9000 accessories box and see if there is a Scan 'n Sew or a Card Reader in there as well-how wonderful that would be! I looked through everything when I first got the machine (bought a few years back as a backup to my Bernina when it is in the shop for its annual physical), but was so intimidated by the machine embroidery aspect of it at that time that I just put those related pieces away. If you see one in the meantime, don't get it unless you know it comes with "the dongle." The dongle is a red thingie that links your reader-writer box to your computer. It may be that your best option is to locate an old reader-writer box. Give me a day or so to locate my notes and refresh my memory, and I will get back to you. I am "not allowed" to do anything until they are done. Tonight I have committed myself to paying bills, catching up mail and balancing checkbook. I will figure it out, as I always keep notes on that sort of thing. There is also the ScanNSew which was used for downloading images, but there was some reason why I got the reader-writer box instead which escapes me now. Therefore, if Viking had files licensed for Disney characters, you could convert the Viking files to Janome files and sew them up. It could, if I remember right, change files from one to another, so you could take designs that were, say, proprietary for one company and sew them out by another machine. Other brands use other file extensions, and that is where the Magic Box came in. sew file extention, or at least did for machines in that era. Then you just stick the card into the sewing machine and it runs the image program.

You download the file, and then download that to the card via the reader/writer box.

The 5700, at least, does not use a floppy but rather a card that looks to me like a large MahJong tile. I have the Customizer software, and a reader-writer card writer which I can use to write to the machine card. They came out in a strange order, if I recall correctly it was 8000-5700-9000. Kathryn, I have the Janome 5700 which is very similar to your 9000. Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide more info on this topic, Is there anyone who is currently doing this on a Janome 9000? If so, what reader are you using?Ĭan anyone link me to a site that features a card reader (and blank cards) for the Janome 9000?Īt your suggestion, Natasha, I'll research the Magic Box.

I'm assuming that the procedure is the same, that I find a compatible card reader and a compatible card and transfer away. When I clicked on your link, Natasha, it took me to a site that did not address Janome, but other embroidery machine brands instead. I would like to know which card reader(s) are good specifically for the Janome 9000, which has, I believe, the. It has been so long that I was in the market for one I can't recall the names. There are more but I can't think of the names right now. I have this one Magic Box is another brand. Kathryn there are a number of card reader boxes on the market for transfering designs from computer to machine. Natasha answered my question on the previous topic with this comment:
